A Better Way

A few weeks ago our small group volunteered one night at "A Better Way Ministries" in Peachtree City.  They are a discipleship program that works with men from age 17 - 60 who have had life controlling addictions and problems.  They educate, provide hands-on work experience in several trades (to build a resume and generate work ethic and motivation) and disciple the men, teaching them that ONLY JESUS can fill the void they've been trying to fill with other things in their lives.  It is an incredible program, and after volunteering and working side-by-side with the men in this program, I have developed an incredible respect and admiration for what they are doing.

Hearing the testimonies from some of the men was very powerful, and it truly was a blessing to serve them.  I can't wait to go back!!

My Aunt Libby is one of my favorite people in the world.  She lives nearby and works as a nurse in Peachtree City.  Her husband, my Uncle Ron, has been struggling for the past couple of years and has been out of work and not finding much luck with getting back into the swing of things.  After meeting one of the guys at A Better Way, I felt that God was lining things up for Ron to join the program.

Today, Libby dropped Ron off to go into the 18 month program.  He won't have any contact with family for the first 60 days, and then will slowly start having visitation and contact.  The entire process: sermons at our church the past few weeks, volunteering with just the right people, raising funds without even a struggle, Ron's positive attitude...it has been completely God-breathed.  I am so excited for him to get started in the program and regain his confidence.  I want him to get himself back, and I believe he will.

I will be praying for Libby, as I know it won't be easy for her to be alone for the next year and a half, but she believes this is where God led them, and I know He will walk with her through it.

I saw this quote on Facebook today...
"A year from now, you will wish you started today."

Welp, Ron started today!!   :)  Woo-hoo!
